The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently checking out the Fernie 2 Community Hall in Mpuluzi to render services into the community.

SASSA will be rendering providers such as new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer treatment enquiries, together with the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.

In a statement, the agency explained it is actually alarmed with regards to the high quantity of people counting on social grants for survival.
“The intention with the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to a higher quantity of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.

“This is as a result of lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there is no totally functional office focused on service the area on a regular basis. The service level developed for intervention activities a large influx of opportunity beneficiaries, that makes it SRD challenging with the office to attend to all people who go to a service point.

“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise more methods to allow the servicing of all prospects and enhance access to Social Assistance products and services,” the agency said.
